Building Super Heroes

Motivation/ Comedy Keynote

Working in education is not a job, it is a calling. Even for those who plan to work with kids for a short season, that short season is a calling to build superheroes. David looks at how educators can help students discover their super power. He shares his personal journey as an at-risk student then becoming a High School French teacher who was working with at-risk students. This performance follows David’s signature pattern of half standup / half inspiration / ALL POSITIVE. David shares his experience of growing up as an “at-risk” student on the Texas-Mexico border. He shares how he went from failing high school classes to earning three college degrees, learning five languages, traveling to six continents. He also shares candidly stories of success and failure that he has encountered as a public high school French teacher in Texas.

Your Best School Year Ever Starts Now

Motivation / Comedy Keynote

David shares from his book “3 Keys to Motivate Any Student”. It is celebrating the work that employees have done, and injection of laughter, and a call to continue giving their best to their students. This performance follows David’s signature pattern of half standup / half inspiration / ALL POSITIVE. David shares his experience of growing up as an “at-risk” student on the Texas-Mexico border. Bridging the Success Gap

Motivation / Comedy Keynote

This performance is specifically for teachers who work in dual-language, ESL, ELL, and bilingual programs. As someone who grew up bilingual as a dual citizen in two worlds, David shares his experience of growing up as an “at-risk” student on the Texas-Mexico border. In a candid (and comical) way, he shares the benefits and challenges he faced in simultaneously being an ELL and SLL. He then shares a few principles he learned along his journey and how he was able to put these to work as he went back to the classroom as a public high school French teacher, and taught bilingual students how to be trilingual. This keynote is note a pedagogical, how-to keynote. Rather it is sharing motivational principles that will undoubtedly help this unique journey that these brave teachers are undertaking.

Mentoring Super Heroes (Workshop)

A continuation of the keynote “Building Super Heroes”

Mentoring superheroes (i.e. our students) is no easy task. We have lesson-planning, deadlines, personal commitments, and we have to be able to accomplish all of them. This workshop looks at how to be your best you 24/7 (energized/ positive). This teaches how to not be “stressed out” and frazzled, but rather alive and excited EVERYDAY. This presentation teaches how to go beyond classroom management and make true classroom connection with our superhero students!
